Seven—and One—Fables That May Keep You Awake
If You Read Them on a Sleepless Night — Chapter Five
Riding a strong updraft,
Guu rose higher and higher.
It felt energy
flowing through its entire body.
As it ascended,
it saw something strange—
upon the top of a mountain,
the sea seemed cramped and uneasy.
Guu asked:
“Why is the sea
on top of the mountain?”
The sea answered irritably:
“The fish, the whales, and the ships
keep complaining
that they don’t like being looked down upon
by the clouds, the sky, and the mountains.
So I had no choice
but to move up here.”
“That sounds difficult,”
Guu said gently.
After comforting the sea a little,
Guu rose even higher.
And there,
in the open sky,
fish and ships were flying.
