“Is it enjoyable,
flying through the sky?”
Guu asked them.
They answered with frustration:
“It’s not as enjoyable as we thought.
It’s cold,
there is no food,
and we are starving.
We should never have complained
about the sea.”
Guu returned to the sea
and said:
“They all wish to return.”
Hearing this,
the sea swelled with joy.
Its body surged and trembled—
and the mountain
began to collapse
with a great rumbling sound.
The sea rushed downward
and returned
to its original place.
The wide ocean spread once more.
The fish and the ships rejoiced.
“The sea fits anywhere perfectly,” they said.
“Perhaps…
because it does not resist being low,
it is truly great.”
Praised by them,
the sea seemed pleased.
Guu sang, as always:
“Guu… guu… guu…”
Soon,
the sea, the fish, the whales,
and the ships
all drifted into a gentle sleep.
Carried by the sea breeze,
Guu quietly left
toward the land.
