Seven—and One—Fables That May Keep You Awake
If You Read Them on a Sleepless Night — Prologue
“The Birth of Guu”
In a distant, distant star-filled sky,
light gathered—
and from it, a small bubble was born.
The bubble absorbed the light,
and was transformed
into a tiny being called Guu.
For tens of thousands of years,
Guu drifted through the universe.
Along the way,
it absorbed the light of many stars,
until it became one hundred times larger
than a blue whale.
Its body was transparent—
and very beautiful.
At last, Guu reached the Earth.
But because its body was so clear,
no one on the ground could see it.
Guu loved to sing.
When a wavering voice—
“Guu… guu… guu…”—
floated down from the sky,
people would look up.
And then—
like a flicker in the air—
they could just barely see Guu.
